Kakivik Asset Management provides Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and inspection services. The company has nearly 200 inspectors, technicians and quality control specialists providing services to the oil and gas, petrochemical and construction sectors. Services include radiographic, ultrasonic, mag particle, penetrant, leak, visual, and magnetic flux exclusion testing.

Kakivik also provides API 653 Tank Inspections, API 570 Pipeline Inspections and API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspections. Additional services are provided in materials investigations, coatings analysis, failure analysis, pre- and post heat treat, cathodic protection, corrosion engineering, and risk-based program management.

Committed to quality and safety, Kakivik provides Owner Clients with the information necessary to increase reliability of system components, minimize outages and shutdowns, protect the environment, and prevent the loss of valuable products.

Kakivik, owned by Bristol Bay Native Corporation, was founded in 1999, and performs work on the North Slope of Alaska, in Cook Inlet, and has operations in La Porte and Neederland, Texas.

An Emphasis on Training and Continuing Education

Kakivik Asset Management, LLC provides its employees with comprehensive safety and NDT training. Kakivik not only regularly trains and tests all of their employees on safety; they put an added emphasis on ethics and integrity.

Kakivik also ensures that each employee's industry training and certifications are up-to-date at all times. For Kakivik, excelling with in-house training was the first step.

"We pride ourselves in being cost competitive. One way we accomplish this is by providing customers with inspectors and technicians who have obtained multiple certifications. With 90% of our employees certified in multiple disciplines we offer the asset owner more flexibility in scheduling and workforce deployment." - Myrna Gardner, President and CEO

In addition to their in-house training program, Kakivik participates in a public-private partnership that includes the University of Alaska and the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Collaboratively they have designed and implemented a Non-Destructive Testing Technician Instructional Program, offering an intensive and innovative 15-week "Boot Camp" that prepares trainees for immediate placement in the field where they are further mentored and then offered advanced classroom instruction.

Kakivik's training and workforce development efforts have not gone unrecognized. In March 2009 Kakivik was presented the first US Department of Labor Certificate of Registration of Apprenticeship Program in Non-Destructive Testing. Kakivik's NDT training program is the only one in the country to have earned participation in the National Apprenticeship System.

Kakivik Asset Management's Use of ISNetworld

Kakivik became a member of ISNetworld in 2008. Since that time, they have reported and managed all of their health and safety information in one central location, as well as utilized the other value-added tools ISNetworld provides.

ISNetworld's Training Manager tool allows Kakivik to efficiently manage all of their in-house safety training records, while standardizing training for all field crews and locations. The use of Training Manager has allowed Kakivik to manage their entire course catalog consisting of nearly 200 health, safety and environmental courses offered to over 200 employees and the public at-large.

The reporting functionality Training Manager provides allows Kakivik to analyze every aspect of the training process and helps to improve delivery of continuing education programs. Although Training Manager is not required by their Owner Clients, it saves time and money and achieves efficiencies in internal and client reporting processes.

"Training Manager plays a very large role in tracking the training that we provide our employees. We rely on Training Manager to assist with standardizing training and to ensure that all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures are practiced on the job to accomplish 'safe production.'" - Ron Cooke, HSE & Procurement Manager

Providing industry validation through ISNetworld's Review & Verification Services (RAVS), Kakivik is able to organize their data in one central location. ISNetworld's team of health and safety professionals then review the data for each of Kakivik's clients and prospective clients. The program provides a convenient method of getting essential safety data to individual Owner Clients, and provides assistance in keeping their safety programs up-to-date.

"RAVS has truly helped us maintain contractual compliance." - Ron Cooke, HSE & Procurement Manager

The diverse, user-friendly functionalities of ISNetworld make staying in compliance with their Owner Clients' HSE requirements a more streamlined process for Kakivik Asset Management.
