National Safe Work Month 2026: How ISN® Helps Australian Organisations Make Safe Work for Life

National Safe Work Month, held every October across Australia, is a reminder that work health and safety (WHS) is about protecting people, not just satisfying an audit. This year's theme, "Safe work is for life," centres on four focus areas: For Life, For Health, For the Future, and For All. ISN, the global leader in contractor and supplier information management services, supports each focus area.

In 2024, 188 Australian workers lost their lives to traumatic workplace injuries and 145,000+ serious workers' compensation claims were lodged in 2023–24, more than 400 every day.

For Life: Closing the Gap Between Policy and Practice
A safety program is only effective if workers understand and apply its controls. ISN's RAVS 360® assessments help measure this gap by engaging front-line workers directly, going beyond self-reported documentation.

Contractor workers complete a confidential survey, ISN reviews results with contractor leadership, and gaps can be closed through complimentary training in ISN's Learning Management System (LMS), with Hiring Clients tracking progress in ISNetworld®. More than 5,000 assessments have been completed in 2026.

For Health: Protecting What Is Not Always Visible
Psychosocial hazards, such as fatigue, burnout, and harassment often develop gradually. ISN's CultureSight® assessment gathers confidential feedback from employees and contractors to help identify gaps between safety expectations and day-to-day experiences before they result in harm.

For the Future: Learning from Long-Term Data
ISN's latest Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) Insights publication helps organisations understand the drivers of SIF events from multiple health and safety frameworks, such as Energy Source Analysis, to help prioritise high-impact prevention. Request a copy here.

For All: Making Good Practice Accessible to Every Workplace
Good WHS should be accessible to every workplace, regardless of size or industry. ISNetworld contractor customers receive complimentary access to more than 800 accredited courses from 14 global training providers through ISN's LMS, helping small contractors improve workforce readiness.

Safe work does not end in October. By continuing to consult workers and act on their feedback, organisations can help create safer workplaces for all, for life.
